The Cannon King's Daughter

An unrecorded banishment from Germany's Krupp steel family

If everyone reading this bought a copy of The Cannon King’s Daughter, all proceeds could be donated to creating a professionally-built website for the Engelbertha Krupp Foundation. The amount quoted by a local Jersey City web developer is $3,500. Engelbertha’s brother, Friedrich, inherited a billion-dollar steel firm. Because she was a woman in 19th-century Germany, and was banished and disinherited by her own father, she received nothing and immigrated to Jersey City to begin her new life. With this foundation she could be given the gift of having something of her own, with her name on it that would benefit the needy of Jersey City. Help me give her that gift with your purchase of The Cannon King’s Daughter- David Stroebel, Engelbertha’s great-grandson.

My Home, Jersey City, 1970

This was my home at 544 Liberty Ave in Jersey City while I was in first and second grade in 1970-71. We moved there so my father could be closer to work at Eagle Beef on Central Ave. Humble beginnings.

Does anyone do this anymore? Anywhere in the world? I search my memory, but I cannot remember this occurring recently. It should. This is an amazing display of humanity.

Philanthropists Needed

leave a comment »

Any philanthropists out there that would like to help fund a foundation named in honor of Engelbertha Krupp? The foundation would help lower homelessness and domestic abuse of women in Jersey City, NJ where my great-grandmother immigrated to. These were issues that my great-grandmother experienced. First quote for a website came in between $2,500 and $3,500. Her brother Friedrich Krupp inherited a multi-billion dollar steel firm in 1887. She did not. This will her hers, something with her name on it 🙂 Thank you all.
